Ashley, you are the definition of AWESOME. You know that, I know that, and the world knows it too.
I had the privilege to take some photos of you a little over a week ago. Nine days later and your person has still left its mark on me. Most people, including myself, would most likely have freaked the #@$% out in your shoes. Your appreciation for life and disregard for the trivial is a gift that most people understand but seldom live within. It is the essence of what the wise strive for, and you do it all with an awesome and spunky sense of humour.
For those who don't know Ashley, she was involved in a terrible car accident in March of 2015. Having been in a coma for two months and bed ridden on a feeding tube for close to six she woke up barely able to move from the neck down. Now sixteen months later, after a ton of help from occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, doctors, an army of family and friends, and most of all her own will, determination and perseverance, she finds herself pushing through tall grass, wild parsnip, swarms of mosquitos, hoards of horse flies and beating the 40° heat just to get in front of my camera.
Ashley, I hope I did you justice. Here are a few teasers from our session together. You are a beautiful, brave and blessed human being. Thank you for your trust in me and for shinning some of your light into my shadows.
